Dear all,

See pioneer -

https://pioneerspacesim.net/

It needs a library libassimp to build for which I have made an RFP -

bugs.debian.org/913738

It would be nice to have this game in Debian.

(Sort of) upstream here, but with Debian packaging experience.

The main problem you'd have in packaging Pioneer is that we lack any
kind of stable release, or QA, all that. We basically release a new
"snapshot" once in a while when we think there are "enough" new things
in it.
Well, that, and the lack of sources for some assets (I doubt we have
the "preferred form of modification" for the music). But if you still
want to go ahead, I can point you to the pioneer-assets repository
which holds the source files for, at least, the 3D models (I think).

Cheers,
Simon

I read shirish's mail as asking for someone else to package it.

Do your current snapshots work reasonably well? If so you could label
the next one a "release" and continue with that.

Thank you for thinking about this issue!

I would be interested in seeing links to the assets, their source
files and build systems.
