Hi,

So after seeing: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=Debian-Games-2018

I realized that there are probably a few games in Fedora which are
not in Debian yet.

So following the gotta catch them all principle I
thought I would share a list of those I'm aware of
with you.

Notice these are all games using allegro, about 10
years ago when I still had a lot of spare time to
do game packaging work I focused on getting permission
to release games under an open license from the authors
of various games listed at allegro.cc.

First of all here a coupe which I think are quite
good quality / very playable and really should be added
to Debian when someone finds some time:

crystal-stacker (1)
flyingsaucersattack
lacewing
machineball
raidem
scorchwentbonkers
shippy
worminator
zasx

Somewhat of a mixed bag:
magicmaze (2)
duel3

And here are some with quite low res graphics and
thus not really up to todays standards IMHO
alphabet-soup (1)
ants

With the exception of magicmaze (see the footnote)
I believe these are all DSFG free.

You can give these a quick test-spin by
installing Fedora 28 in a vm, then they are
just a "dnf install foo" away.

Regards,

Hans

1) These come from:
http://www.t3-i.com/
Which probably has other candidates as well

2) This is not the magicmaze which is already in Debian,
so it needs a new name. Also the music "Advancement.xm"
has a license which does not allow modification, which
means it is non free, so this needs to be replaced

Thanks a lot for sharing your list. There are also some games that are
in Debian but not in Fedora, though I haven't compiled a list yet. It is
always a bit hard to find contributors who want to maintain those games.
I assume this is our main blocking issue for introducing all those older
Allegro games.

I might take a look at them in the future, just to learn more about
gameplay and artworks. However I believe Allegro 4 is pretty much
obsolete, so we have to port them to Allegro 5 eventually. Not sure if
it will be worth the effort.

Oh I'm sure there is a long list of those, unfortunately the Fedora
Games SIG has not been all that active the last few years.

Yes, same for us.

Maybe, some of these are somewhat obscure / ported by my to Linux
for inclusion in Fedora specifically.
